We love meeting other RVers. The crazy thing is that sometimes we don’t meet them in person, but just from YouTube, Twitter, or Facebook. Some have become friends. Spot the Scotts are RVers that we met via YouTube. They are an awesome family and we are so happy to call them our friends. Here’s more about them!
So who are Spot the Scotts? They are Brian and Christie Scott from Denver, Colorado. They travel full time in their RV with their dog and cat, part time with Brian’s kiddos. They are also looking forward to adding more little Scottlets to the family!
Please note the interview was conducted via email and answered entirely by Spot the Scotts.
Why did you want to life full time in a RV?
We’ve both always had itchy feet and enjoyed seeing new places. We spent our honeymoon in a travel trailer and we just knew that vacations weren’t enough and we wanted this to become our lifestyle.
How did you even find out about this lifestyle?
Posting travel pics to Instagram on our honeymoon! We ended up being followed by, and in turn following, other young full timers. We were like… “that’s a THING?” Pretty much as soon as we knew it WAS a thing, we knew we wanted it.
What kind of RV do you have and why did you choose it?
We’re on our third rig since starting out. We have had two travel trailers and now we are in a fifth wheel. We love all types of RV’s though! We chose this one for its layout with a four-bunk bedroom and two couches in the living area for having people over and conversing.
What can you recommend to someone that is interested in starting this life?
There are a million and one ways to make it work. Worry less about how everyone else is doing it and just figure out what works for you and what will make you happy. After all, the whole point of all this is to be happy, right?!
How do you align your travel goals and your work life?
We’ve done a lot of travel and not a lot of work so far. Now, we are getting more into our work life. We plan to just work as much as we have to and spend the rest of our time exploring whatever new back yard we have!
What is your favorite and/or least favorite thing about RV living?
- Favorite: Having a home that stays the same, but a backyard that’s ever-changing!
- Least favorite: When repairs make us homeless and take forever!
Are there any unique favorites/passions you would like to share?
One of our favorite things about traveling the country is visiting national parks and having the kids in the junior ranger program. Just so much fun for all of us.
